Built against the natural backdrop of an unspoilt landscape, this residence exploits to the full the potential for integrating construction and territory. The Vicenza stone used for the building is an obvious reference to the area’s Palladian heritage. The large glass eye that dominates the design has the dual role of providing a view over the countryside and of drawing into the house as much light as possible, in exactly the same way as the lens of a camera. The swimming pool is entirely covered in mosaic whose characteristic wave shape creates an optical illusion, conveying a distancing sensation of the infinite to the swimmer. Overall, the centre of gravity of this construction lies in its role as a bridge between tradition, represented by stone and nature, and the modernity implicit in the steel and technology used to build it. Both elements fuse into a single, astonishingly well-balanced whole.
